A financial market is a marketplace where financial products, such as stocks, currencies, bonds, derivatives, commodities, and more, are exchanged and traded. It facilitates transactions between buyers and sellers, allowing them to trade their preferred financial assets at prices driven by market forces. The connection between the economy and the financial market greatly impacts the global landscape. The financial market is a vital factor in the growth of the economy, offering opportunities for individuals, businesses, and governments to invest, borrow, and raise capital. This leads to increased efficiency, the emergence of new businesses, and higher employment rates.
Financial markets serve as a crucial link between the investors and the borrowers, bridging the gap for mutual gain. Financial markets offer investors the option to invest their money in various securities or schemes for short- or long-term investing benefits. Figure 1.1. depicts the many forms of financial markets.
