ON THE QUESTION OF THE ESSENCE OF THE CONCEPT OF COMPETITION - К ВОПРОСУ О СУЩНОСТИ ПОНЯТИЯ КОНКУРЕНЦИИ
Abstract. Competition is at the core of the banking sector, stimulating innovation, efficiency and customer focus. In today’s dynamic financial world, banks are constantly fighting for market share, striving to stand out with a variety of products, services and expertise. Understanding the essence of competition in the banking sector is of paramount importance for stakeholders, from industry players to policy makers and consumers, as it shapes the dynamics of the entire financial ecosystem. In addition, competition promotes financial stability by encouraging sound risk management practices and regulatory oversight. Ultimately, competition in the banking sector stimulates economic growth, increases confidence in the financial system and ensures that banks continue to respond to the changing needs of consumers and businesses. The article examines the essence of the concept of competition in the banking sector.
Банковская конкуренция – это соперничество между банками за привлечение новых и/или удержание уже обслуживаемых клиентов с помощью различных цено- вых и неценовых методов. Это соперничество носит весьма неоднозначный харак- тер: помимо определенных выгод, которых хотят добиться центральные банки, оно может повлечь за собой ряд негативных последствий, которые могут создать пре- пятствия для банков в повышении эффективности финансового посредничества и даже увеличить системные риски банковского сектора. Преимущества конкурен- ции хорошо известны в микроэкономической теории: она запускает процесс сни- жения рыночных цен, что способствует снижению стоимости товаров для конеч- ных потребителей и, соответственно, повышает их доступность.
