STRATEGIES TO ENHANCE OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY OF MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (MSME) IN GENERIC PHARMA INDUSTRY ACROSS SOUTH INDIA
The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector has emerged as a strong and dynamic segment of the Indian economy. The objective of this study was to evaluate factors like People, Process, Technology, Infrastructure and Funding which impact the Operational Efficiency of MSMEs.In addition, the research focused on exploring and evaluating the enabling environment for recommendation of appropriate strategies to enhance the operational efficiency of MSMEs in the generic pharma industry. The scope of this study spanned across five states of South India-Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala which had different success levels in pharmaceutical manufacturing. The results of the research have pointed towards greater emphasis in building qualified and trained workforce, urgent need of technology adoption by means of moving from manual to online systems, overhaul of inventory management, product testing, storage and distribution and MSME tax policy restructuring along with seamless approval for funding.
