Prevalence of Child Maltreatment: A Retrospective Studies Among Indian Emerging Adults

Background: Childhood significantly shapes an individual's personality and behaviour, making the issue of child maltreatment a critical public health concern. Understanding its prevalence is crucial for guiding interventions aimed at preventing abuse. The treatment a child receives during formative years profoundly impacts their overall health. Recognizing maltreatment in a caregiver's behaviour is essential, as it causes stress linked to disruptions in early brain development. This study aims to retrospectively investigate the prevalence and characteristics of child maltreatment among emerging adults in India.
