The Effect of Supply Chain Management Practices on Competitive Advantage: A Field Study on the Employees in Mediclinic Middle East
The study discussed the “impact of supply chain management (SCM) on competitive advantage within Mediclinic Middle East”, part of Mediclinic International, which operates several healthcare facilities across the UAE. It was conducted using a “survey method” with an in-house questionnaire targeting individuals working at Mediclinic Middle East. The findings indicated that SCM practices were generally effective, with a mean value of 4.17. The dimensions of SCM evaluated included relationships with customers (health system leaders, department heads, staff, and patients), suppliers, and intermediaries/distributors. The study also assessed "the impact of SCM on competitive advantage, " scoring a mean value of 4.11. The competitive advantage dimensions were quality, cost, delivery, and flexibility. The results confirmed “a positive and statistically significant relationship between SCM dimensions (relationships with clients, suppliers, and intermediaries/distributors) and competitive advantage metrics (quality, cost, delivery, and flexibility)”. Effective SCM at Mediclinic Middle East significantly contributes to competitive advantage by enhancing quality, reducing costs, ensuring timely delivery, and fostering flexibility.
